Parikshiti Mhaispurkar, our certified teacher and Coordintaor
for Yoga Activities in Australia region conducted a Lecture at
Monash University. Parikshiti is currently working at the Howard
Florey Institute of Neurosciences (Melbourne University) as a
visting scientist and at the School of Physics (Monash University).
Currently his research is not directly related to meditation but
the things he is presently doing will lay a strong foundation
of his future plans of doing research to explore secrets of meditation
scientifically.
Following
is the Feedback of Parikshiti's lecture received from Monash Yoga
Society <yoga@monashclubs.org>
Feedback on "Yoga and Happiness"
"Thank you Parikshiti for a very in-depth, well understood
and explained presentation. We found it exceptionally rare to
have the esoteric aspects of yoga so clearly explained by someone
who not only understood the original language and cultural background,
could communicate it to a western audience, and also looked at
it from a practitioners viewpoint."
"It was interesting to hear from a distinctly different tradition
of yoga and one that reinforced that asanas are a component of
yoga, rather than the current over-emphasis which is common in
the west. We would have been interested to see more on how knowledege
of psychic physiology is put
into practice and, if you are available in the future, would like
hear more details about your research into the physiological effects
of meditation."
Thank you again,
Monash Yoga Society
