  • Meaning: Tiryak means twisted or bent. There is a bending of the body in left and right side from the position of Tadasana, hence this asana is called the Tiryak Tadasana..

  • Preposition: Standing position.

  • Attaining the asana position.

  1. Spread your left leg towards left side at a distance of about one foot.
  2. Lift both the hands in front and lock the fingers with palms facing inside.
  3. Raise both hands upwards above your head and turn palms inwards.
  4. Bend in the waist in left direction as much as you can while maintaining the balance of the body; continue maintaining it for a while. Relax all the muscles as much as you can.
  5. Straighten in the waist and the position as in 3.
  6. Bend in the waist in right direction as much as you can and maintain for few seconds and relax all the muscles as much as you can.
  7. Straighten in the waist and take the position as in 3.

Releasing the Asana position.

  1. Release the stretch and come to normal state.
  2. Bring the hands in the front as in the position 2 explained earlier.
  3. Unlock the fingers and take the hands down as in the position no. 1.
