Yoga is a science developed thousands of years
ago to help with physical, mental and spiritual health
Different types of yoga such as Ashtanga Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana yoga & Raja Yoga are practiced to attain balance, inner harmony and higher states of consciousness called Samadhi, Samadhi is the union of Atman and Paramatman. Atman is individual soul and Paramatman or Brahman is universal consciousness.
Yoga is a sanskrit word meaning Union or Join
Yoga talks about joining body and mind, thoughts, balancing body and mind Yoga is often known to reduce stress, improve mood, calm the mind, improve concentration, and bring relaxation. Basic practices of Yoga include Asanas or yoga poses or postures, Pranayama or breath control, meditation, mantras and chanting. Yoga postures or yoga poses bring flexibility, strength and endurance to the muscles, joints and overall body systems.
Pranayama or breathing control increases the stamina of lungs and improves oxygen consumption and balance the nervous system.
