The Seva Activities

What is seva yoga / Karma yoga ?
Seva is serving others and helping others with compassion, serving not for personal gratification but to uplift others. Seva is an offering. When an action contains your best thoughts and feelings, your love and affection, sympathy and compassion, and when it uplifts others, that is seva. Seva is serving others with compassion and with the best you can give. In the course of time, seva becomes a way of life. Living for others becomes a way of life, not living for oneself.
Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati

Seva Activities 2009 -

We have started two gymnasiums for the village boys at the ashram and at one place near Anjaneri (Hanumans birthplace). They are proving to be very popular with the boys who come daily to practice.

  • We are regularly donating clothes to the poorer villages around the ashram and conducting various workshops on yoga.
  • In November we trained 700 village students in surya namaskar and asanas.
  • We rebuilt a two storeyed building in the small village of Pimpalad for social gatherings and yoga practice.
  • In November foreign volunteers taught English and Yoga to the village children in the nearby school.
  • In December more than one thousand people attended the Jnaneshwari celebrations held at the ashram for seven days with the reading of Bhagvad Gita and teachings of various saints and sages.
