Inspiring
Words of Swami Niranjanananda
Transforming
the personality and building character. We tend to identify
with the weaknesses rather than the strengths of our character.
This promotes “won’t” power--I won’t
do that, I can’t do that, rather than will power--I will
do that. We need to reduce the weak and limiting characteristics
of our personality and develop the positive and creative characteristics.
Yoga is what will lift you up and guide you.
Practicing
yoga and learning about yourself is like entering a big dark
room and turning the lights on one by one. People want instant
transformation. Yoga is not for these people. It is for people
who are patient and willing to work hard to overcome their limitations.
The
human mind has to go through a transformation of connecting
with the human spirit. . . . It’s more important to be
a farmer than a warrior: Sow positive qualities like strength,
love, compassion, service, and purification to lead a spiritual
life.
A
yogic philosophy of life. Life is a sequence of moments of happiness,
joy and bliss. If you capture the moments you will have a full
life. If you see life as a struggle, it will be.
Don’t
shy away from pain and suffering. They create a balance. Have
enough happiness to be content, enough trials to make you strong,
enough struggles to keep you human, and enough hope to keep
moving forward.
Life
is a process of acceptance, accommodation, and adjustment, then
marching forward with head held high. The happiest of people
don’t necessarily have the best of everything, but make
the best of everything that comes their way.
Sing,
dance, live, love, laugh!
What
is enlightenment? As our desire for happiness increases, our
desire for material things increases, creating imbalance. ENLIGHTENMENT
is the outcome of a harmonious, balanced personality. Do not
subscribe to the theory that enlightenment is a goal. It is
only the side effect of developing qualities in yourself and
leading a balanced life. Make Yoga a lifestyle, not simply a
practice. Yoga is not about escaping life by sitting with the
eyes closed, but rather running into life with our arms wide
open seeking to enjoy and understand ourselves and others.
