My initial
intentions were only to further my knowledge of the eight limbs
of Ashtanga Yoga. But, I leave here learning so much more of yoga
as a way of life. Some things won’t be included on my path
while many others I will be glad to incorporate. An incredible
learning experience with an incredible group of people.
Chris Baines (Canada)
I never imagined myself coming to an Ashram in India but I’m
so happy to have come here. I felt such relief coming to this
quiet haven in the hills. It is the perfect setting for reflection
and self-study. The staff and all the people involved gave me
much needed guidance and I am very grateful for their sincerity
and time.
Cassie Welch (Canada)
My yoga started from here and I’ve found it is the way I
want to keep going. The environment is beautiful. It includes
you as a part of nature. People are amazing. I liked everyone.
It was a big help to my life from now on.
Yoshimi Yokou (Japan)
For me, learning yoga the traditional way and deepening of my
personal knowledge from the perspectives of yoga is achieved during
the one month! In addition, I have gained so much more from my
inner self fulfillment, finding joy and peace and appreciating
LIFE! Staying in the ashram with the beautiful scenery, fresh
air and peaceful surrounding it just like a big happy family gathering.
Each and everyone in our group is amazing and warm. My heart felt
gratitude to all the teachers, coordinator, staff and Guruji during
the whole course period with all your unending laughter, great
food, personal assistance in many ways…. I’ve experienced
greater clarity in thinking and mindfulness and finding greater
balance in my attitude and actions after being here for 6 weeks.
I leave Yoga Vidya Gurukul with a heavy heart but it’s filled
with joyful memories and greater mental and physical health to
continue my journey with yoga. Hari Om Tat Sat.
Pauline Heng (Malaysia)
Frankly, many times during the initial days of the course, I wanted
to run back to the comfort of my routine life. I’m really
glad I stayed and I’ve emerged a stronger person. Better
knowledge of yoga aside, I’ll be taking back with me the
various stories, some of which have helped me overcome current
problems in my life. Sincere thanks to all who have helped me
become a better and more confident person. Not forgetting the
fabulous food! I’ve never imagined vegetarian food can taste
so good…

Today I leave Yoga Vidya Dham and fly back to Canada. I’m
leaving behind my first experience in a yoga ashram (Teacher Training
Course) and taking home with me a deeper respect for everything
that is yoga. I’ve learned a great deal here about yoga
and myself and I would not trade this experience of deepening
self awareness for anything. The staff, food and lodging facilities
are wonderful. The mountains, misty mornings, fabulous sun sets
and sun rises and amazing moonlit nights are unforgettable. As
are the people in the village, culture, sounds and scenery. Thanks
to all of you. Hari Om.
