Testimonials

I advise every single soul to visit Yoga Vidya Gurukul. It is a place that truly shows you a wonderful, peaceful, kind and happy way of living. The staff are amazing, the teachers are brilliant, the ashram is simply blissful and the mountains and bushland surroundings are breathtaking. I thank everyone for this wonderful experience which has altered my life permanently. I am so proud to be a part of your group as a teacher".

Tamu Tobin, Brighton, UK

The T.T.C is a wonderfull start to being a Yoga teacher, I enjoyed it a lot. I would recommend it to anybody who wants to start teaching but does not want to get to bogged down with ashram life. Caters well for people from western society. I however would have liked more Ashram rules fasting, meditation and silence. This is a good month training I hope to do more advanced course next year.

Ronnie (UK)

I attended the Teacher Training Course at the Gurukul in January 2006. I can honestly say that this was one of the best experiences of my life. For me the most meaningful episode came not in a particular improvement in any type of practice or some major realization, but in my calm and peaceful state of mind that lasted throughout the course and the few days I stayed afterward. The outcome of this is that despite the troubles of the day, at least in my practice I am able to concentrate and remain stable and comfortable. Now I am getting the true mental and psychic benefits from sadhana and not just the physical ones.

My thanks to everyone at the Yoga Vidya Gurukul.

One of the things that I hoped to get out of the course was more discipline and consistency in my practice. I definitely feel that is happening. Before coming to Yoga Vidya Gurukul I always had trouble with the getting up before sunrise to do my meditation and asan practice. Most days since I have been home I have been waking up on my own without any help of the alarm clock somewhere between 4:00am and 5:30am. I am very happy with that. Even if I stay up a little late I find I really do feel better when I get up early. If I don't I feel that I have missed out on something. I am even experiencing more peace and a quiet mind when holding poses for the extended periods. Another area my stay with you has impacted my life is in my diet. I traveled for a bit after the course. I realized it had been an entire month since I experienced any sort of digestive problems. It's hard when traveling to maintain a yogic diet. Now that I am home I am making sure that I maintain eating whole foods. I have had fish maybe three times since I came home. I had nightmares each time. I am now even considering giving up my occasional sushi night. Pooey! Ha! Ha.

At the beginning of the course I was very homesick. Then I just could not wait to travel. Now I am contemplating coming back next year. Thanks for everything.
